Change of ownership

When purchasing or selling property you will be required to complete a Change of Ownership form. The form can be obtained below or can be completed over the phone by phoning 13 MYWATER (13 6992).

 

Once the Change of Ownership form has been received a meter reading will take place. Accounts will be finalised and depending on payment circumstances the Vendor will receive a final bill or a refund and the Purchaser will receive a bill for their portion of the service charges for the remainder of the financial year.

 

If a Vendor does not provide Change of Ownership details they will continue to receive accounts for the water and sewerage charges until they advise us of the change of ownership. As the Purchaser, the Change of Ownership form is essentially an application to become a customer of Southern Water.

 

We have also requested Property Lawyers / Conveyancers notify us of the disposal or acquisition of property by reminding clients to complete and forward a Change of Ownership form. If a restriction device is fitted at the time of sale, the Vendor is responsible for its removal and payment of the overdue account. Fees for removal can be found on our website.
