Concessions

Concessions from the State Government for water and sewerage accounts are available for some customers. To be eligible, the property for which you are seeking a water and sewerage concession:

  • must be your principle place of residence,
  • must be used for residential purposes only, and
  • you must hold one of the following cards:
    • Centrelink Health Care Card, or
    • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, or

    • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Repatriation Health Gold Card.

Please note that the name and address on the card must match the name and address on the water and sewerage account.

How much is the concession?

In 2011-12, the concession is:

  • $75.08 for your water service, and
  • $75.08 for your sewerage service.

The concession applies only to the Water and Sewerage Service Charges. The Water Usage Charge is not subject to a concession.

The concession is for 2011-12, and is shown as a quarterly reduction on each quarterly account you receive.
Concession rates for 2012-13 are expected to rise by CPI. Southern Water is awaiting advice from the State Government.

If I apply, when does the concession start?

If you apply to Southern Water to receive a concession, and you meet all the criteria, we will apply the concession from the date on which we received your application form.

I have already applied, but the concession is not showing on my account

Once you have successfully applied for a concession, it should appear on your account each quarter.  If you do not see a reference to a concession, please contact us on 13 6992 (13 MYWATER) so that we may look into this for you.
