Steve Balcombe ScholarshipTasmanian communities and industry will be enhanced by Southern Water’s continuing support of the Steve Balcombe Scholarship, again being offered in 2010.
The Scholarship is available to students commencing full-time study in an area relevant to Southern Water’s core activities – engineering, environmental, science or earth science.
Past recipients of the scholarship have made valuable contributions in their chosen careers. Long-term, the capacity of the water industry will be enriched through continued investment in these fields.
The Steve Balcombe Scholarship offers the recipient practical experience as well as financial support. Experience undertaken while completing their degree is often invaluable to students when they enter the workforce.
The Southern Water Steve Balcombe Scholarship, previously offered by Hobart Water, is in honour of the inaugural Hobart Water chairman Steve Balcombe. Mr Balcombe was an engineering graduate of the University of Tasmania and had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors in Tasmania before his premature death in March 2001.
The Southern Water Steve Balcombe Scholarship provides $3,000 per year for up to four years to the successful applicant.
