Plumbing Applications
Under the Water and Sewerage Industry Act 2008, Southern Water is responsible for providing a Certificate of Certifiable Work (Plumbing) or exemption to the applicant or Permit Authority. This Certificate will advise the applicant of water and sewerage conditions that may apply to an application for a Building Permit.
Southern Water has 10 calendar days to reply with any required conditions and advice. Southern Water has 7 calendar days to request further information if required. Where further information is sought the ‘clock stops’ and the 10 day timeframe recommences when satisfactory additional information is received.
If your application does not require approval from Southern Water you may complete a Declaration of Exemption.
Plumbing Certificate of Completion
Under the Water and Sewerage Act 2008, the owner of a building or land may, after the completion of certifiable work in relation to the building or land, apply to Southern Water for the issue of a Certificate of Water and Sewerage Compliance (Plumbing) specifying that the conditions of the Certificate of Certifiable Work (Plumbing) have been complied with and that the work has been completed substantially in accordance with the information or documents submitted.
The Permit Authority (Council) may not issue a Certificate of Completion (Plumbing Work) until the Certificate of Compliance has been issued by Southern Water.
