Risdon Brook Park

Risdon Brook Park, set amongst dense bushland on Hobart’s eastern shore, is a popular recreational area. The Park is home to one of Hobart’s largest drinking water reservoirs which supplies water to homes on the eastern shore.

Southern Water owns and maintains Risdon Brook Park, which includes a walking track, barbecue facilities, disabled fishing bays, a children’s playground and toilet facilities.

The Children's Playground is located near the large hut and gas BBQ.

Disabled fishing bays

There are two disabled fishing bays at Risdon Brook Park. Access is off the main car park. The fish in the reservoir do not impact on the water's quality.

These fishing bays are available for disabled people and their attendants. Fishing is only permitted to those who display a Tasmanian Transport Access Scheme Permit on their vehicle and have a current Inland Fisheries Service angling license.

Risdon Brook Radio Yacht Club

The Risdon Brook Radio Yacht Club is permitted by Southern Water to sail model yachts on the reservoir. This does not adversely impact the drinking water. They frequent the reservoir on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. Only members of this group are permitted to sail their yachts on the reservoir. If you have a radio yacht you must join this group to sail at Risdon Brook Park.

Members of the Risdon Brook Radio Yacht Club are permitted to park within the reservoir track and have issued passes that are displayed on their vehicles so members of the public know they are part of this group.

Group Visits

Large groups and schools visiting the park are required to book their visit to ensure safety and convenience measures can be put in place. Please contact Southern Water on 13MYWATER (13 6992) in advance.
