Purchasing Water from Water Carters
Southern Water does not directly operate any water cartage services, however there are a number of water carters operating across the region who deliver water supplies to properties. Water carters are required to be licensed and registered through the local Council in the areas they operate. Contact details for most carriers can be found under "Water Carters" in the Yellow Pages. The following list details the various water access and supply options available within the various Council Areas.
Brighton Council area
No public water access facilities are currently available within the Brighton Council area. A number of licensed water carters operate within Brighton Council and the surrounding area.
Central Highlands Council area
Southern Water does not currentlyoperate public facilities in the Central Highlands municipality. The Central Highlands Council provides a water filling outlet within their Council Depot.
Clarence City Council area
Four public water filling points are available within the Clarence City Council area. These facilities token operated. Each token delivers 500 litres of water.

No public water access facilities are currently available within the Glenorchy City Council area. A number of licensed water carters operate within Glenorchy City Council and the surrounding area.
Hobart City Council area
No public water access facilities are currently available within the Hobart City Council area. A number of licensed water carters operate within Hobart City Council and the surrounding area.
Huon Valley Council area
No public water access facilities are currently available within the Huon Valley Council area. A number of licensed water carters operate within Huon Valley Council and the surrounding area.
Kingborough Council area
Southern Water has two automated water filling sites located in the Kingborough Council area (one for registered water carriers only). These water filling points are operated by using pre-paid electronic tags.

Sorell Council area
Southern Water operates an automated water filling point located on Shark Point Road at Sorell. This facility is operated by pre-paid electronic E-Keys.
Prepaid E-keys can be purchased directly from the Sorell Chemmart Chemist (beside Banjo's), or can be obtained from Southern Water by completing and returning a New User Registration form.

Southern Midlands Council area
Five public water filling points are available within the Southern Midlands Council area. Access to water from these facilities is controlled through local agents.

No public water supplies and facilities are currently available within the Tasman Council area. The nearest facilities are located at Sorell. A number of licensed water carters operate within the Sorell municipality servicing the Tasman Council area.
